Kool-Aid Popcorn

Today, for a Halloween Primary party that the Young Women hosted, I decided to make some kool-aid popcorn to contribute to the snack table. I was introduced to this recipe during the summer when my sister and I made some for a hotdog roast with my family. She found the recipe on Pinterest (obviously) but I thought I would share it with you here.

The link for the website is HERE.

The only variation I made was that I put the popcorn in a paper bag, added the kool-aid mixture, and then shook it up to coat it evenly. I popped it in the microwave a few times while shaking it to keep it soft and melted.

Here's what the end product looked like. I made a full batch of lemon-lime kool-aid mix and a full batch of grape kool-aid mix. Once they cooled a bit, I broke up the popcorn and mixed them both together. Voila!

All in all, the Primary Halloween party was a success. I brought all of my Halloween decorations to spice up the place and it looked pretty good for only decorating for 15 minutes. The Young Women did an awesome job and were great at helping the kids have a good time. I'm glad I was able to be a part of it but also glad Halloween comes only once a year! Yikes!

Halloween Weekend

This weekend was wonderful and packed full of Halloween goodness! Although Halloween really isn't until Thursday, I had the opportunity to get in the Halloween spirit and have a great time with some pretty cool people.

FRIDAY:
Jared and I went to a Halloween games night at Rob & Errin's house. There were lots of creative costumes there and many games to play. Jared and I did a couples costume...finally! We dressed up like Finn & Princess Bubblegum from the cartoon Adventure Time. Here are some pictures of our evening.

Princess Bubblegum & Finn

We had a pumpkin carving contest. I didn't get any photos of the pumpkins but Jared carved the Swedish Chef with "Borking Bard" written beside it. Emily (right) won the pumpkin carving contest with her version of the Cheshire Cat.

Notice how Jared is no longer wearing a shirt and shorts...he changed into his Finn onesie!

SATURDAY:
Saturday was a long one, but a fun one. I worked a night shift Friday night, got an hour of sleep and then headed off to the Halloween Howl 5k race with some friends, Laura Dunford and Kristi Craig. Since it was a Halloween themed race, we obviously dressed up to run it. Here are some pictures of our race.

Before the race.

During the race. It was a beautiful morning for running! The air was crisp and just cold enough to keep my from overheating. We're lucky we didn't race the next day because it snowed a ton.

After. Still looking pretty awesome!

Once I got home after running a few errands, I managed to get another few hours of sleep before heading off to a "Witches Night Out" hosted by Laura Dunford. She did an awesome job and had so many cute ideas! We all dressed up like witches and went out for appetizers at Earls restaurant. After that, we went back to Laura's house for snacks, Halloween Bingo, and our own personal viewing of "Hocus Pocus". I couldn't stay late as I had to work another night shift that evening. No rest for the wicked I suppose. Here are some more photos (FYI, I'm a huge photo thief and didn't take any of these photos myself).

Outside of Earls, posing in our witchy gear. Laura, the one who organized the party, is on the bottom right.

All of us for our Witches Night Out. I look incredibly short!

The snack table. Everything was delicious!

Anyways, that was my eventful weekend. Sunday was also very nice as I got to go to church and rest a bit in the evening from a pretty busy weekend. Tuesday, I'm assisting the Young Women in my ward host a Halloween party for the primary kids in our ward and I'm hosting my own Halloween party on Thursday. There's always room for more costumes, candy, and fun.

(FYI, I'm a huge photo thief. I didn't take any of the photos I posted on this entry. I need to get better at taking them.)

Starting from Scratch

It's been a while since I've written a blog post. I sort of neglected/abandoned my previous blog. It got to a point where I decided I should just start over and cut my losses. I feel like this is an opportunity to get away from some of the more juvenile posts I used to write and, instead, use my blog as an online journal, one that I can use to keep track of important things that happen in my life and post pictures along the way. I don't always remember to journal, but hopefully this will help keep me on track and be something I'm proud of in the future.

On that note, welcome to my blog! I hope anyone who happens to stumble upon this enjoys reading it as much as I enjoy writing it (I hope I enjoy writing in it).

Now the real task is remembering to post on here...I will keep you posted.

Steph.
