I'm not going to lie, I am not a fan of doing catch-up posts. Maybe that's why it's January and I'm just doing August now. Please bear with me, this might be shorter than it should be but I will try to remember what happened. It was 5 months ago!
The end of the Olsen Family Reunion began our August. I already wrote about that in my July catch-up so I will skip that.
Besides working, we did a few fun things during August. First of all, one of Jared's most anticipated movies of 2014 came out in August- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! He has loved these characters since he was a kid but was a little disappointed with how the characters looked and the director...(Michael Bay). We went with our friends, Josiah and Lyndy Cook who we actually met at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo in April. We bonded over, you guessed it, TMNT. We had fun seeing it with them and Jared and Josiah discussed it after. Lyndy and I didn't care as much. All-in-all, we went to the movie with pretty low expectations but I think we were able to enjoy ourselves anyway! Plus we got these sweet Ninja Turtle 3D glasses that we wore during the movie that made us look super cool haha. Nerd alert!
On the 15th, we went to see one of our favorite stand-up comedians, Brian Regan at the Jack Singer Concert Hall in downtown Calgary. We went with Jared's brother Jason and our friend Nathan Maret. The show was a lot of fun with lots of laughs. As we were leaving the show afterwards, we bumped into some friends of ours, Josh and Nicole Tagg. It had been a while since we had seen then so we all decided to go out for a late dinner. It was good seeing them and catching up. They were also expecting a baby and were due at the end of August (They ended up having a baby girl and naming her Lucy).

The next day, the 16th, was Jared's birthday. His birthday wish was to have a low-key birthday and to stay home and play his new Nintendo Wii U so that is what we did. While he played for a while, I stepped out to go to my friend, Laura's baby shower. She is my running buddy friend who was due exactly a week before me. We had a fun time visiting with all her friends. It was a cute tea party theme so we had it outside and finished up just as it began to rain. Perfect timing. On my way home from the baby shower, I bought a birthday cake from Dairy Queen and Jared and I enjoyed it at home. We went out for dinner at Booker's Crab Shack and Jared was able to eat some delicious crab (not my choice of a delicious meal since I don't like seafood but Jared devoured it). I see nothing wrong with a low-key birthday, do you? Video games and icecream cake? Perfection.

The 21st was our 4th anniversary and I honestly don't remember most of it. I worked a night shift the Eve of our anniversary and also on our anniversary. Fun times. What I do know is that we went out for dinner...maybe at Montanas? That sounds about right haha.
One last fun thing we did in August was going to see a re-run of a movie called The Goonies at The Scotiabank Theatre at Chinook Mall. It's a classic movie about a boy and his friends who find an old map in his attic that leads to burried treasure. It was fun to see it in theaters because it was released in 1985 before I was even born. Definitely a great, nostalgic movie to watch from my childhood.
Other than that, August was a blur. I basically worked and tried to get as much overtime pay as I could manage. I can say I do enjoy my job though so it wasn't awful. Look how positive I am haha.
Hope you all had a fun August!
